Statement
KyePot- India's first ROSCA's(Rotating Savings and Credit Association) mobile app that makes participating in chit funds easier than saving or borrowing from a bank.
"We need the design, as soon as possible."
"Mobile adaption was growing very fast."
Users and
audience
People who have some knowledge of Chit Funds or are currently participating in one (28 - 45 yrs old). Can be salaried or a Business owner.
A global financial phenomenon

Rosca's exists around the world in various forms and are preferred financial tool of more than 1 Billion people.
They are known by various names around the world.
Process
What I wanted to do?
Thorough UX research, follow the correct UX framework, create a persona, develop a mental model and user needs.
What happened?
No time to follow a framework and conduct UX Research, we had to deploy the MVP in a short amount of time, so I had to browse through the internet and find basic rules or available research and learn about our users.
Workshop
Conducted a 1 day workshop with
stakeholders to understand:
Why are we doing this?
To quickly launch a MVP in the market, get clients, test and raise funding.
Innovate or replicate?
Mix of both, because there aren't any such digital product in the market, use the available knowledge to design something similar to users mental model.
Biggest goal?
On time and under budget(6 months), with a decent User Experience for version 1.
Operationally
We want to solve the technical issues to develop this smoothly, and have a good code stack, that will be refined over time.
Strategically
We want to launch the product and test it out in the market to understand the market and the product market fit to further raise investment and improve.
Mapping out the current process and structure
How are people doing this now? And what are the issues or current challenges.

Mockups

Information architecture and navigation
I mapped out, illustrated the most important needs for the product and primary navigation to help users accomplish their goals.

Wireframes

Since we were developing using React native framework I kept the UI components to card format as it was easy to develop.

Summarising key use cases and task flows
Groups
Access their group/s and check its details. Users could see which cycle the group was in and how far they were from finishing.
Monthly Payment
We enabled India's payment ecosystem UPI to allow group members to pay effortlessly. This reduced bank transfers, cheque handling, and cash deposits all at once, saving a significant amount of time.
Bid
Another critical feature, previously, members had to go to the office to lodge their bids. They were able to do it from the comfort of their own homes, saving them a lot time.
For the Interface I focused on Readability with good contrast and used WCAG 2.0 Guidelines. Fonts are big in size to ensure readability and colors used are soothing, calming, peaceful and fresh.

Outcomes
and Learnings
SUS Score:
79
Based on the feedback gathered we made changes and rolled it out in the market in time. I learned that there were many restrictions and limitations in terms of tech and legal. We improved them and made changes in our next version.
