Summary

Transformed a confusing onboarding flow (SUS: 46/100) into a clear, activation-focused experience whilst establishing design foundations for scale. I built a component library and integrated UX practices into existing agile workflow without slowing releases.

Situation

A talent cloud platform connecting Indian students with jobs was struggling with user activation and inconsistent design. The startup needed quick wins without traditional UX research, while building foundations for rapid feature development.

Task

The goal was to improve -

  1. User activation by redesigning the onboarding flow.

  2. Enhance the hompeage to provide clear next actions for users.

  3. Establish a design system for consistent and scalable product development.

  4. Integrate UX practices into the agile workflow without delaying feature releases.

Learnings

Working with constraints taught me to advocate for good UX whilst being pragmatic. I learned to pick strategic battles—using SUS testing and building design systems as a byproduct of a feature
as opposed to a separate initiative. The ability to market UX methods and demonstrate ROI was as important as the design work itself.
